The only strict contra-indication is the presence of a pacemaker. There are no restrictions for children, including small babies, pregnant women and even cancer patients.
Background and Effectiveness of the Scenar-Based Therapy
A team of Russian doctors and scientists led by engineer A. Karasev and medical doctor A. Revenko developed the device in the 1980’s. In 1990 the SCENAR was allowed by the USSR Medical Council for release to the general public and hospitals. Scenar device is certified by EU-mark.
Currently, this technology is new in Sweden but it is known in many EU- countries, Australia, USA, Canada and Russia. There are over 100.000 case reports of the device’s use and a few hundreds of medical doctors all over the world currently use the device as their principal treatment tool . It has been used to assist in pain management and relief in the following types of disorders – circulatory, respiratory, neurological, genito-urinary, endocrine, musculo-skeletal, immune, gastrointestinal and even psychological discomfort. Tests conducted in Russia have since shown the Scenar is proven to be effective in 83% of cases.
How does the SCENAR work?
The SCENAR (Scenar) treats the body in non-invasive way through the skin. It delivers a “dosage” in the form of bi-polar electrical impulses to stimulate the body in direct contact with the skin surface and in accordance with electro-dermal impedance. Using biofeedback, the SCENAR modifies every impulse different from the preceding input. It happens every few milliseconds according to internal reaction of the body. Since the organism is unable to accommodate to the stimuli, the reaction to the impulses does not diminish, i.e. there is no process of habituation.
Scenar helps the body to identify, “reconnect and recognize” the pathological area, and naturally helps a body to correct and complete its own self-recovery program by accessing the body’s own “internal pharmacy”. Based on response to endogenous biofeedback Scenar’s impulses toward the area of the pathological focus, nervous cells release bio-active substances: endorphins, substance-P, other regulative peptides including neuropeptides, which triggers cascade of reactions at the level of “whole body” – level of biological processes including emotional response.
The practitioner determines where to apply the Scenar instrument by examining skin surface response for anomalies. These anomalies are indicated by difference of “numbers” (individual measures of the skin impedance), redness, numbness, “stickiness” (a magnetic-like drag as the device is moved across the skin) or change in sound emitted from the device. Body’s natural healing process is commenced by treating these “asymmetries”. The required “dosage” can be delivered automatically or over-ridden at the discretion of the therapist with guidance from visual, audio and tactile indicators plus digital diagnostic and treatment protocols.
